Ludhiana: Probing the biggest money heist of Rs 8.49 crore in Ludhiana, the police have traced the men who had broken through the toll barrier in Ludhiana rural area. The police said the car occupants, who were traced to Kotkapura of Faridkot, are being questioned, but no link with Ludhiana robbery has been found so far.
According to sources, the car occupants had broken through the toll barrier as they were not willing to pay the toll fee.
Deputy commissioner of police (investigation) Harmeet Singh Hundal said, “The police have traced both the cars that had crashed the toll barrier in Ludhiana rural area. The car occupants have been questioned, but their link with CMS robbery has not been found. Though, the police have not given any clean chit to them yet.”
Further, ADCP-III Shubham Aggarwal said at least 30 persons have been questioned so far in this case, including the employees of CMS company, to provide leads in this case. Those who are being questioned also include former employees of CMS company. Agarwal said the police have tracked the movement of the robbers and several teams have been formed to solve the case.
The ADCP said that the employees of the company told police that the accused had thrown chilli powder in their eyes and then locked them in the server room. Agarwal said a total three firearms were recovered from the cash van, found abandoned in Pandori village, of which two belong to CMS employees.
In the early hours on Saturday, about nine robbers had barged into the office of the cash management service company and robbed Rs 8.49 crore. The accused had also taken away the DVR, a cash van and rifles. The police later recovered rifles and a van from Pandori village.
Meanwhile, police official s said the CMS’s office earlier was in Feroze Gandhi market and they shifted to Aman Park about two-and-a-half years ago. While shifting there, the company did not inform the police station concerned. “The company officials claimed that they have informed the police station, however no such record was available with Sarabha Nagar police station. This is being verified. When the police station concerned has information about any such office, police patrolling is ensured there at night hours. Patrolling teams do visit banks, ATMs etc,” DCP Hundal said.
