Advocate alleges sextortion bid, woman booked
Gurgaon: A woman allegedly made an obscene Whatsapp video call to a city-based advocate and later threatened to leak its recording on social media if he did not pay up, police said on Monday.
An FIR has been registered against the unidentified woman.
According to the complaint, the victim who is the son of a retired sessions court judge, immediately disconnected the WhatsApp call when the woman started stripping.
However, she then allegedly sent him several obscene pictures from another number. Then she started blackmailing him, saying she would release the video call recording on his Facebook and Instagram accounts.
At the time of the incident, the victim was working with his father, who immediately called the police upon learning of the incident and reported it.
“My son has just returned from London. So, he is not aware of how these cyber thugs cheat people. He had been working with me at my office when he received this obscene call. When he realised it was from a dubious person trying to frame him, he disconnected the call and blocked the number. Then, he started getting messages from another number, with the same woman sending obscene pictures and videos and demanding money against threats of making them go viral. I asked him to block all such numbers, called up the cops and submitted a complaint at the Sector 18 police station,” the victim’s father, who made the complaint, said.

Police have registered a case against the unidentified woman under Section 292 (obscene Act) of the IPC and Section 67 A of the IT Act.
“We have launched an investigation and are trying to trace the culprit,” Gurgaon police spokesperson, Subhash Boken, said.
