Thiruvananthapuram: When the expats demanded an MLA of their own to raise their voice, the government created an assembly itself for them, said Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan at the public meeting at Times Square in New York on Sunday evening, marking the conclusion of Loka
Kerala Sabha (LKS) regional conference.
Vijayan said that the structureof LKS is such that it will represent the Malayali community all over the world. The region-wise editions of LKS can discuss and address the specific issues of each region, he said. “The discussions that were held in the last two days as part of this regional conference were very effective,” he said.
Vijayan said that since 2016, the LDF government has been bringing a qualitative difference in governance, delivering what has been promised to the people of the state. He said that prior to 2016, the general perception was that no development would happen in the state.
“This year too, our annual progress report evaluates our performance in comparison with our promises in the election manifesto. We have placed it before the people of the state so that they can judge whether we have walked the talk. We are presenting a governance model rooted in transparency and accountability, reaffirming our commitment to the people and upholding our right to know something you cannot see elsewhere,” he said. Vijayan said that in 2016, the government had placed 600 promises, of which 580 were fulfilled. That’s why the people voted for the LDF government again, he added.
Vijayan said that the state has become India’s first fully e-governed state on May 25 this year. “Through e-governance, the state is championing transparency, efficiency and inclusivity. The state is harnessing technology to ensure seamless access to diverse public services, of which more than 900 are now available online ,” he said.
“During the previous tenure itself, the government had declared access to internet as a right of our citizens. To ensure that such a right is accessible to all, we went ahead with K-FON, which provides broadband connectivity to all our houses and public offices,” he added.
Vijayan said that Kerala tells a remarkable tale of social harmony, equitable growth and progressive values.
