Vadodara: An elderly woman who was knocked down by a cow in Padra town near here died early on Monday morning. This is the second case involving cattle in a week's time that resulted in the death of an elderly person.
A bovine had injured an octogenarian woman Dhuli Rana with its horns on Sunday morning. Rana had gone to a temple as per her daily routine and was returning home when she was attacked.
Rana suffered injuries on her nose and limbs. She was rushed to a hospital in Padra and from there she was brought to the SSG Hospital (SSGH) at Vadodara. The woman was discharged from the hospital on Sunday evening. However, she died at her residence early on Monday morning.
Padra municipality corporator and former president of the municipality Raju Rana said that cattle used to stay put at the place where the woman was attacked by a cow. He added that presently the municipality had no system of impounding cattle and they remained on the road. “This was done for some time earlier, but was discontinued,” said Rana.
On June 7, an elderly man died in Vadodara city in an accident involving a bovine. The victim Vitthal Mali (65) fell on the road along with his scooter when a bovine came in his way.
He was hit by another vehicle coming from behind while he was on the road. Mali was also rushed to SSGH for treatment where he died later.
