Blast at Tata Steel plant in Odisha's Dhenkanal, 19 injured

In a blast that took place in Tata Steel’s Meramandali plant in Dhenkanal on 13 June, 19 people were injured, reported Business Today, adding the injured have now been moved to Cuttack.
Following the incident at the blast furnace power plant of the company, an internal investigation has been initiated. Initial details say that a steam pipe burst after which there was some gas leakage.
The firm said that the blast took place at around 1 pm during the inspection that resulted in the injuries of 19 people.
In a statement, Tata Steel said, "We are saddened to report an accident at the BFPP2 power plant due to escape of steam at Tata Steel Meramandali Works in Dhenkanal, Odisha. The accident occurred at 1:00 pm (IST) today during the course of the inspection work and has affected a few people working at the site, who were immediately shifted to a hospital for further treatment. Immediately post the accident, all the emergency protocol services were activated and the area has been cordoned off."
“We are working closely with relevant authorities and conducting our internal investigation. Safety remains our top priority and we're committed to learning from this incident. More details will follow as they become available," Business Today quoted the company as saying.
Stating more details, Odisha TV reported that two of the 19 injured are critical after hot water fell on them as they were inspecting the blast furnace.
Dhenkanal SP Gyanaranjan Mohapatra said the valve carrying hot water opened, injuring the people.
