ASI, home guard assaulted in Valsad

Surat: An assistant sub-inspector and a home guard jawan were beaten up in Dadari Faliya area of Valsad in the wee hours of Monday. They were on patrol duty.
ASI Rahul Rathwa and home guard jawan Sandip Patel were injured were admitted to hospital.
Police registered an offence against a group of five men. Police said Rathwa and Patel were passing by a lake in Dadari Faliya area when Rathwa noticed a few motorcycles. He got down to check and saw that some people were sitting near the parapet of the lake.
“The cops were in uniform and Rathwa went close to the accused. He asked them why they were sitting at the place late at night. But the accused entered into argument with him,” said a police officer. The accused told Rathwa that they were all local villagers. Later, they attacked Rathwa and Patel. They kicked and punched them. Police were looking for the accused.
