Cyclone Biparjoy in Gujarat Live Updates: As the state braces for impact of ‘extremely severe’ cyclonic storm Biparjoy on June 15, Met department officials said this is the fourth major cyclone to affect Gujarat coast in five years. Three people, including two children, died as the entire region was already in the grip of cyclonic effects with fierce winds uprooting trees. Two cousins a four-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl died after a wall collapsed on them in Bhuj town while a woman named Harsha Bavaliya who was riding pillion with her husband died on the spot after a huge tree crashed on their scooter due to strong winds in Jasdan taluka of Rajkot.Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to CM Bhupendra Patel on Monday and inquired about the state’s preparedness for Cyclone Biparjoy. In a tweet around 11pm, the CM wrote that the PM has assured him of all possible assistance from the Centre to deal with the cyclone. Cyclone Biparjoy: Movement of over 150 trains to be badly affected

  • The railways has activated its disaster management set-up to minimize the impact of cyclone Biparjoy, which is likely to make landfall in Gujarat this week, officials said on Monday.
  • The railways has identified vulnerable sections on its network, including Bhavnagar, Mahuva, Veraval to Porbandar, Okha to Hapa, and Gandhidham area.
  • The train transportation has been affected badly because of cyclone. According to the railway authority movement of more then 150 trains was likely to be affected in the next three days.
  • The trains between Rajkot-Okha, Rajkot-Veralva and RajkotMorbi have been suspended.
  • The long distance trains will be terminated at Rajkot and Hapa stations while local trains have been cancelled.

Cyclone Biparjoy in Gujarat Live: Gujarat to evacuate people living within 10km from coast

  • As cyclone Biparjoy approaches and is likely to make landfall near Jakhau port in the Kutch district off the Gujarat coast, evacuation efforts will pick up on Tuesday, with the government aiming to evacuate people within 10 km from the coast.
  • Authorities in the coastal districts of Kutch, Porbandar, Devbhumi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Junagadh, and Morbi have started the process of shifting those living near the coastline.
  • Officials said thousands of people residing in areas within 10km from the shore will be moved to safer places from Tuesday.
