Kanpur: A woman on the run from Chandigarh along with her minor daughter allegedly after murdering her husband, has been arrested from Kanpur Central, on late Sunday night.
GRP sources said that Chandigarh GRP had informed last nightthat a woman going by the name Ruby, killed her husband and fled to
Bihar by train with her minor daughter.
Along with this information, inputs were also provided regarding the location of the woman by the Chandigarh police.
A joint team of GRP and RPF nabbed the woman and her minor daughter from the bathroom of the Jallianwala Bagh Express train at the Kanpur Central.
During interrogation, the woman confessed that she had killed her husband.
GRP station in-charge Ramkrishna Dwivedi said that Chandigarh police had sent the location of the woman. “After which the woman and her daughter have been taken into police custody at Kanpur Central,” said Dwivedi further.
The police said that the woman apprised police that her husband Ashish, who was her second husband, used to torture her on regular basis and had ill intentions towards the daughter (born from her first husband). “That’s why she killed him,” police said further.
“It also came to fore that there was a fight between her and the husband on Saturday. The police had then pacified the matter. But the next day, probably on Sunday, they again had a fight. During which she strangled him to death. Later, she fled from there with her daughter,” GRP in-charge added. “The woman is a native of Bihar,” he said further.
Official also said that the accused woman and her minor daughter are being handed over to Crime Branch (Chandigarh). “Further action and inquiry will be done by the Chandigarh Crime Branch,” he added.
