Assam BJP leader's body found on highway, murder suspected

A woman district secretary of the governing BJP in Assam’s Goalpara was found dead with severe head injuries along a highway late Sunday night, police said amid suspicion she was murdered and her dumped body dumped at the spot.
Jonali Nath’s family members told the police she had left home for nearby Islampur at 4.30pm on Sunday for some personal matter. Her body was found along NH-17 in Goalpara’s Krishnai Salpara area. Goalpara SP VV Rakesh Reddy said, “Investigation has already been initiated. The accused will be in the net soon.”
BJP state president Bhabesh Kalita demanded a “proper” probe. “If there is any political angle, it also should be investigated. ”
