Ludhiana: A factory worker died while three others suffered injuries after the wall in a plot collapsed at Kanganwal area of Sahnewal when
rain and storm hit the city on Saturday night. The victims were crossing from the road adjoining the plot when the incident took place. Area residents informed the police, who reached the spot and rescued the victims with the help of residents.
The deceased has been identified as Sant Lal Das of Vijay Nagar Colony, who was a supervisor in a factory. Inspector Inderjit Singh, SHO at Sahnewal police station said that the 10 feet high wall was already in a dilapidated condition. During the rain and storm, it collapsed at around 8pm, injuring people passing by. They were rushed to a hospital, where Sant Lal was declared dead. Three others suffered minor injuries.
The inspector said there was a factory at the site but the owners had razed the building, leaving a boundary wall. Police have informed Sant Lal’s family in
Bihar about the incident. Further action will be taken after recording their statements. tnn
