Auto driver’s death: Protesters block road

Ranchi: Residents blocked the Ranchi-Khunti highway for about five hours after the death of the driver of an autorickshaw which was hit by a truck near Dasmile under the Tupudana police station area on Sunday morning.
Police said Jamil Ansari (30) was coming from his home on his auto when the accident occurred killing him on the spot.
The truck driver managed to flee leaving behind the vehicle.
Agitated over the incident, local villagers blocked the road demanding compensation for the dependent of the deceased. The protestors tried to set fire to the truck but soon a team of police personnel arrived and dispersed them. Due to the protest vehicle movement was hit on the stretch. The blockade was removed at around noon.
Ranchi SSP Kishore Kaushal said, “The traffic movement was disrupted due to the agitation. Later, the truck and the mangled remains of the auto were removed from the accident site to facilitate traffic movement.”
