Local podcast to come to life in upcoming stage show

Huron City Radio is bringing one of its award-winning podcasts to life next month.
The Mariner Theater will be the venue for a podcast turned live show in July. Daniel Williams, the writer and producer of Huron City Radio, said this is a show that should not be missed.
"We want people to come and experience something that is unique in the fact that it's original, written and created in the Blue Water Area," Williams said.
The show will take place at 7 p.m., July 7 and 8 at the Mariner, located at 430 S. Water St. in Marine City. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased on the Mariner's website.
Huron City Radio was created in 2020 and is a fictional radio station that Williams uses to launch multiple shows. Since its creation, the podcast has showcased over 100 Blue Water Area artists to produce audio comedies and dramas.
The show that will be brought to life is "The Midnite Hour with Tom Bobbajobski." The podcast follows Huron City Radio host, Tom Bobbajobski as he broadcasts his radio show from his ship in Lake Huron. This is the first time Huron City Radio has done a live version of one its podcasts.
"To bring this (show) that we've spent the best part of 18 months creating to the stage is just incredibly exhilarating," Williams said.
The show has been adapted into a stage play to bring the podcast to life. Williams said the characters will get to interact with each other on stage, rather than "phone in" like they do on the podcast.
The live show will have regular elements of the podcast including a drama portion, with Marty Garavaglia performing as Uncle Walter from the “Uncle Walter’s Year of Wonder” podcast, local musical guest Port Huron singer/actor Cheryl McCoy and other show favorites.
The stage show is a combination of episodes of “The Midnite Hour,” but there will also be a new narrative running through the show.
Huron City Radio has won awards such as Outstanding Drama Fiction Podcast from New Jersey Web Fest 2021, Best Show Fiction Podcast and Best Performance from New Zealand Web Fest 2022. Additionally, the show has been broadcasted on the BBC.
