Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Camarillo
A 41-year-old Camarillo man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with an alleged attack on another Camarillo man the previous evening.
Ventura County Sheriff's officers initially investigated the incident as suspected assault with a deadly weapon with non-life threatening injuries, but had upgraded the allegation to attempted murder by the time they made the arrest around noon Sunday.
The suspect had been booked into the main jail in Ventura by midafternoon Sunday on suspicion of attempted pre-meditated murder and was being held in lieu of $1.045 million bail, according to jail records.
Sheriff’s Office Capt. Ryan Clark said the alleged assailant is suspected of using a cutting device in the attack, but that he could not release any more information on the device.
Clark said the victim was found in the 200 block of Nellora Street, which is located north of Highway 101 and west of Lewis Road in Camarillo. He did not know if the address was the individual’s home.
No additional information on the victim or his condition was available Sunday evening.
