A 30-year-old Delhi resident, Amit Prakash, on Friday night, found himself robbed of his car, laptop, mobile phone and 18,000 in cash by a stranger who had joined him for drinks at Subhash Chowk.

Amit Prakash is an employee of a firm located on Golf Course Road and resides in Greater Kailash-II. He reported going to the ahata BYOB along with a Lakeforest Wine Shop on Golf Course Road after work.

He was intoxicated to the point that he paid 20,000 for a wine bottle that had 2,000 as its MRP. However, the shop owner returned 18,000 to him in cash. Amit proceeded to his car where he began to drink again.

At this time, a stranger approached Amit and asked if he could join him for a few drinks to which the victim politely obliged.

In his complaint, the 30-year-old said that he drove to Subhash Chowk with the man. The stranger asked him to get out of the car and he did as he “forgot that he was in his own car" and the man drove off.

Amit took an auto to the Huda City metro station on his way home before realising what had happened.

The complainant was unable to recall specifics about the stranger, according to the police report. On Sunday, a case was filed under Section 379 (stealing) of the IPC against the unnamed defendant. According to Subhash Boken, a spokesman for the Gurgaon police, efforts are being made to identify the culprit using CCTV footage.
