Mumbai murder case

Manoj Sane, the 56-year-old accused, allegedly took pictures of the body after killing and chopping his 36-year-old  live-in partner, Saraswati Vaidya, at Mumbai’s Mira Road. Along with taking pictures, he also cut Vaidya’s long hair.

One of Vaidya’s sisters broke down when she saw the picture of her long hair that Sane had cut and placed on the kitchen platform of their apartment, recalling that Vaidya liked her long hair, as per Vasai-Virar and Mira-Bhayandar Police.

Vaidya had four sisters, according to the officials. Three of them went to the police station to record their statements. The sisters requested the police to make such a strong case against the accused, Manoj Sane, that he gets the most severe punishment since they are angered with him, according to the reports.

Police will be sending DNA samples of Vaidya and her immediate family to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) on Monday, as per reports.

Meanwhile, in the most recent development, police revealed that Sane photographed the body after the murder. He did multiple Google searches to find out how to properly dispose of the body parts.

A senior officer of the Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar (MBVV) Police Commissionerate said,  Sane frequently changes his responses when being questioned. However, many of his statements have been cross-verified by the police.

After the murder, on June 4, the accused purchased an electric wood cutter (chainsaw) from a nearby hardware shop, which he used to chop Vaidya. This woodcutter’s chain broke while it was being used, therefore Sane took it to the shop for repair where he had purchased it.

Further, Sane purchased five bottles of Nilgiri oil from a nearby shop after finding out from Google how to avoid the foul smell coming from a dead body.

Police are looking for witnesses who can verify Sane’s claim that he married Vaidya at a temple in Borivali in order to find the priest. Investigation revealed that the couple was keeping their marriage a secret due to age differences. Manoj Sane and Saraswati Vaidya were living under one roof in the Akashganga apartment on Mira Road.
