Man shot, killed in west Charlotte, CMPD says

A man died after being shot several times in west Charlotte Sunday night, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department detectives said.

Officers say they were called to Southwest Boulevard, just off LaSalle Street at Quentin Street, around 10 p.m. Sunday.

When they arrived, police found 36-year-old Anthony Dewayne Haley, who had been shot multiple times. He died at the scene, they said.

Channel 9′s Anthony Kustura learned the victim was a 36-year-old man.

The shooting happened just a day after someone was shot during a large gathering in the same area. Police said they heard gunshots coming from a large crowd before they found the victim, who is expected to recover from their injuries.
