Services in dialysis centres will be improved: Health min
Mangaluru: Minister for health and family welfare Dinesh Gundu Rao said that services in dialysis centres and 108 ambulances will be improved in the coming days. “Tender process for the maintenance of the dialysis centres in government hospitals have begun. The services will be improved within a month,” the minister told reporters after holding a review meeting at Ullal Community Centre in Mangaluru constituency on Sunday.
He said that the issue of vacancies in the health department will be discussed and steps will be taken to find a solution to it. “Doctors and other staff should take care of patients in government hospitals with compassion. This is important for the effective functioning of government hospitals. The behaviour of doctors and staff is equally important to the treatment provided. Patients will be emotionally satisfied when staff behave politely with them. Let us work together to ensure that there are zero complaints about negligence, corruption and ill-treatment in government hospitals,” Rao said.
He directed officials to identify space for the taluk health officer’s office in Ullal. Mangaluru MLA and speaker of the Karnataka legislative assembly UT Khader, and DHO Dr Kishore Kumar M were present.
Temporary measures to prevent sea erosion
Temporary measures will be taken to prevent loss of lives and damage to properties due to sea erosion in Ullal, Someshwar and Panambur, the minister said after visiting the seashore at Battampady, one of the worst-affected areas due to sea erosion in speaker UT Khader’s constituency, in Mangaluru.
“There is a proposal at the government-level to check sea erosion in Ullal, mulled by speaker UT Khader,” he added.
