4-day-old baby abandoned at hosp’s toilet, rescued
Berhampur: A newborn baby was rescued from the washroom of a private hospital here by ChildLine activists and the police on Sunday. Police suspect that the four-day-old baby, which had physical deformities, may have been abandoned by the parents because of that.
The baby, weighing around 2.4kg, has been admitted to the special newborn care unit of MKCG Medical College and Hospital here and his condition was stated to be critical, sources said.
“Following an FIR filed by ChildLine at Baidyanathpur police station, we have registered a case against the parents and the hospital authorities. We have identified the parents and interrogation is underway to find out their motive behind abandoning the child,” Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M said.
