Delta slide deploys
An inflatable emergency slide accidentally deployed inside of a Delta Air Lines plane on Saturday while on the ground at Salt Lake International Airport, CNN reported. "Delta flight 520, operating from New York-JFK to Los Angeles-LAX, diverted to Salt Lake City due to a maintenance issue," the CNN quoted the airline spokesperson as saying. No emergency landing was declared, nor did the plane divert due to the slide, the statement said.
Tucker Carlson cease-and-desist
Fox News has sent a cease-and-desist letter to Tucker Carlson, alleging that the the former star anchor has breached his contract by launching a new show on Twitter.
“Doubling down on the most catastrophic programming decision in the history of the cable news industry, Fox is now demanding that Tucker Carlson be silent until after the 2024 election," lawyer Harmeet Dhillon told Axios, which first reported the Fox letter.
Reddit blackout
Recently, Reddit said that it will charge third-party app developers for access to the site’s data. The announcement did not go well with the moderators who have decided to protest against the charge. As a result, more than 3,000 subreddit groups aka communities dedicated to particular interests on the platform — are “going dark" starting today. The protest is expected to last at least 48 hours.
Berlusconi dies
Silvio Berlusconi, the former Italian prime minister who overcame various scandals to hold office four times, has died at 86. He was hospitalized to a Milan hospital on Friday for a pre-planned tests related to leukaemia. His admission came just three weeks after he was discharged following a six-week stay at Milan’s San Raffaele hospital, during which time doctors revealed he had a rare type of blood cancer.
Berlusconi had suffered ill health for years, from heart surgery in 2016 to a 2020 hospitalisation for coronavirus. Despite being re-elected to the Senate last year, he was rarely seen in public.
