Fire guts commercial complex in Chennai's Sowcarpet

CHENNAI: A fire gutted a commercial complex on Mint Street in Sowcarpet on Monday morning.
The complex housed a gold jewellery showroom, imitation gold jewellery showroom, a textile showroom and a few other godowns.
However, no one was injured in the accident.
Fire personnel from the high court and Esplanade went to the spot and put out the blaze after battling for about an hour.
No one was inside the building when the incident took place.
A team from the Elephant Gate police station went to the spot and probed the cause of the accident.
Inquiries revealed that fire sparks from the nearby EB transformer might have caused the accident.
