Salem: Salem district has been gearing up to receive
Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin who will camp in the district for two days and inaugurate various projects and release water from the Mettur dam.
Stalin, who reached here on Saturday around 6pm was accompanied by water resources department minister
Durai Murugan.
On his two day visit, Stalin will participate in a meeting organised by the district administration and the Salem municipal corporation on Sunday. During the meeting, he will inaugurate double decker bus stand worth 96.53 crore, built under the smart city project. He also will unveil the former CM
M Karunanidhi’s statue on the Anna park premises.
Stalin also will dedicate various projects including Bose Maidan renovated at the cost of 10.58 crore, Nehru auditorium at the cost of 33.6 crore, parking site for vehicles at Anandha bridge for 12.34 crore, VOC vegetable market 14.97 crore, multiple storey parking building on the Salem central bus stand premises for 13.04 crore, parking unit on the hanging garden premises at 12 crore, renovated Pallapatty lake for 28 crore for public use.
On Monday, Stalin will release water from the Mettur dam for delta district farmers to carry out kuruvai crop cultivation.
Followed by the CM’s visit, as many as 1,200 policemen from Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Erode and Tirupur districts are deployed on duty to keep the situation under control.
