Rain brought temporary relief to large swathes of Mumbai and its adjoining districts on Sunday evening, with the topic soon trending on social media platforms. Elated netizens shared photos of overcast skies and subsequent showers as Cyclone Biparjoy bore down towards the coastline.

“From here on showers will start rolling over Mumbai. This starts Mumbai’s 4 months long love-hate relationship with Rains. Overall light to moderate rains for next few days. After week or so typical monsoonal heavy downpour will start," announced one social media handle tracking the weather.

Extremely severe cyclonic storm 'Biparjoy' is expected to cross Saurashtra and District Kachchh around noon on June 15.

Earlier in the day, the India Meteorological Department had issued a rainfall warning for the coastal city.
