MCG to install trommels to process more garbage
Gurgaon: MCG is planning to install trommels to enhance the capacity of fresh waste processing at material recovery facilities (MRFs). The civic body will procure two new trommels for this purpose.
MCG commissioner PC Meena has also directed Ecogreen, the solid waste management concessionaire, to install one of its trommels, which was earlier used at Bandhwari, at one of the MRFs.
The MRF at Sector 44 has the capacity to process only 50 tonnes per day. The MRFs at Darbaripur and Beri Wala Bagh each have the capacity to process only 20 tonnes of waste per day, and the centre at Badshapur has the capacity to process 150 tonnes of waste per day. However, the MRFs are not running at their full capacity.
“The commissioner has directed us to ensure that three trommels are installed at Bandhwari. The trommels installed at MRFs will increase the processing of fresh waste daily at MRFs,” said a senior MCG official.
