Cops trace family of SL national
Nagpur: City police have traced the family of 76-year-old Sri Lankan national, Arunasalam Sivarajah, whose decomposed body was found near the tracks close to the Godhani railway crossing earlier this week.
The family has claimed that Sivarajah, who was temperamental by nature, had left home after a tiff with his doctor son Sudarshan.
A former postal department employee, Sivarajah had told his family about his plans to visit different shrines in Varanasi.
After reaching Chennai by air on May 21, Sivarajah had taken a train to Varanasi. It is suspected he had either fallen off or died by suicide after jumping down the moving train.
Sivarajah was identified on the basis of the passport and visa found beside the body.
Police had contacted the ministry of foreign affairs and the foreigners regional registration office (FRRO). On the basis of details furnished by cops, the ministry and FRRO traced Sivarajah’s family.
Senior inspector Shubhangi Wankhede of Mankapur police station said Sivarajah’s son would be reaching the city by Sunday or Monday as he did not receive visa on time. “The body has been kept at the mortuary of Mayo hospital. The postmortem would be done in presence of his son,” said Wankhede adding that accidental death was registered at Mankapur police station.
