Soaring temperature fires up sales of ACs
Prayagraj: The sale of air-conditioners is on fire, charged up by the scorching heat in the city. With summers gradually becoming intolerable every year, customers are lined to buy inverter and smart ACs which offer energy efficiency and ease of operation and maintenance. Shops selling all brands of air conditioners claimed that there has been 30% increase in the demand of star rated ACs and branded coolers among the customers this summer season compared to previous years. With temperature soaring in most parts of the country, AC sellers are expecting surge in demand to continue for some more weeks, making this year one of the strongest bumper seasons after many years of slow to moderate numbers.
“Till mid-May, the market was not that great, and we had average sales. However, in June month, there has been a better growth, something that we have not witnessed over the past two years or so,” Harsh Kesarwani , a seller at Mutthiganj, told TOI. “In April and May, AC dealers and sellers faced a stock-out situation, we are now ramping up numbers” he added.
The fact was that AC dealers and sellers have doubled the manpower to handle the situation. Those involved in services of are also enjoying gala time to earn more bucks. Shivam Agrawal, a lawyer said, “This summer season, I have brought two new ACs for my house. It becomes difficult for residents to stay inside house without ACs in during sultry weather conditions”.
During ever summer season, the sale of AC and cooler picks up in market. However, this year, customers are showing their more interest in ACs since there has been instalment facility being offered by majority of shops. Secondly, the shops and dealers are also offering best possible technical manpower to AC business.
“A key demand of customers generally is to get same-day installation, and thus we have increased our team strength” said another dealer at Civil Lines adding “We are hoping for good time in next two months” he added. ACs with Inverter facility has also seen brisk numbers with heavy footfalls at dealerships.
“Triggered by the heightened demand for appliances in the summer season, AC sales started on a positive note. We have recorded strong numbers in May, clocking over 30% growth due to more sophisticated higher specification models. Dealers, however, claimed that 60% of AC sales happen in summer, primarily between April and June. Easy consumer finance has helped drive in numbers, and nearly 60- 70% of demand is coming for split ACs.
