Gujarat restaurant owner and staff assaulted Dalit man over eatery, dies

The case has been registered against the two accused under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult to provoke someone), 506 (2) (criminal intimidation), and 114 (abettor present when offense committed) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) as well as relevant provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, the two accused have not been arrested.

A horrible case of atrocity against a Dalit man has been reported in Gujarat where a restaurant owner and his staff members thrashed a man belongs to the Dalit community over an eatery order. An incident took place just after another case of a Dalit man being beaten over wearing sunglasses and good clothes. The victim Raju Vankar died two days after the incident happened. The family members of the victim refused to accept the body on Saturday due to negligence from the Police side and demanded justice for Raju.

The Dalit community protested against this incident and demand strict action against the accused, they will not accept the body until the law take its course.

The incident took place on the evening of June 7. Vankar who was an autorickshaw driver by profession had gone to an eatery at Limbadiya village in Khanpur for dinner. After dinner, he requested a hotel parcel of food. When Raju objected to the quantity of the food not as per the money he paid, the hotel owner and his staff hurled casteist abuse at him before thrashing him and injuring him badly.

However, he managed to return home and told the family members about the incident. At night, he started complaining about acute pain in his abdomen. His wife called an ambulance and took him to a hospital at Mahisagar. Later Raju Vankar was shifted to a hospital at Godhra in Panchmahal district from where he was moved to SSG Hospital at Vadodara. There he underwent an operation but was later declared dead on Friday night.

The case has been registered against the two accused under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult to provoke someone), 506 (2) (criminal intimidation), and 114 (abettor present when offense committed) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) as well as relevant provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, the two accused have not been arrested. Following Vankar’s death, the police added section 302 IPC (murder) against the two accused.

Japanese Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki tweets a video of him eating street food with a sarcastic caption that his wife beats him like spicy Indian street food. The tweet drew many people’s attention, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

PM Modi responds to the Japanese Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki, he was amazed to see the Ambassador enjoying India’s culinary diversity and the way Ambassador presented in an innovative manner. PM Modi said Ambassador would not mind losing the contest with his wife on food. He urged the Ambassador to keep posting such videos.

In one of the videos of Hiroshi Suzuki, he could be seen eating street food and captioned it that he loves Indian street food but a little spicy. Suzuki was trying Maharashtrian-style street food in Pune has gone viral on social media. Apparently, the envoy, who was in Pune for an event, tried vada pav and misal pav but he had a minor complaint that it was too spicy for him.

The Japanese envoy also tried Pune’s famous “misal pav” on the recommendation of his Twitter followers and also posted a video of tucking into the delicacy. He said his followers recommended him “misal pav”.

He received several reactions from netizens for his posts about trying out Indian street food in Pune and the Indian prime minister was one of them. Some of his social media followers urged Suzuki to try other delicacies in the comments section, while others admired his willingness to try new foods.

One social media user commented, it was quite brave of him that he tried spicy street food, it has literally lots of spicy. Social media users also suggested him to try mango lassi or mango ice cream to cool down his stomach.

Another wrote, he should have taken a glass of buttermilk.

This was not the first time that a Japanese official tried out Indian street food. Earlier, in March, Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on his visit to India, tried different Indian delicacies including ‘gol-gappe’, ‘aam panna’ and ‘lassi’ during a visit to the Buddha Jayanti Park in Delhi with Modi.

RPF constable saves man’s life from being run over by train in West Bengal

A video is making round on the internet in which the Railway Protection Force constable K Sumathi’s quick action saved a man’s life from being run over by a train in West Bengal. It shows the dedication of the RPF to the security and welfare of passengers. This is not the first incident where RPF shows their courage and discipline.

The man can be seen standing on a platform in this video before suddenly falling onto the track. The constable notice the man from the other platform as he made an effort to lie down. A fast-moving train was about to pass by that particular track, the official quickly took the decision and jumped down into the track to pull the man away from the track. After a while, two other personnel joined the constable to rescue the man.

The incident took place at Purwa Medinipur railway station. The lady constable K Sumathi showed her courage to pull the person off the track, moments before a speeding train passes. RPF India praised the lady constable for her commitment towards passenger safety.  

The courage and commitment shown by the RPF frontline heroes is incredible. They serve so that passenger’s safety remains uncompromised. The video tweeted by the RPF has received over 3 lakh views and thousands of comments.

Several netizens praised the constable’s courageous conduct. In fact, many commented on her dedication. A social media user shared his thoughts about the incident and praised the constable. The social media user also pointed out on passenger’s struggle to come out of the situation. He further said that those who face such uncertainty would get to know how difficult it is to face such situations, particularly when left alone as people around keep passing by.

Another user also praised the railway for their commitment to duty and humanity.

Newly wed couple from Chennai drowns in Bali during photoshoot

A newly wed couple from Chennai drowned and died in Bali in an unfortunate incident. The couple were spending their honeymoon vacation in Bali. The incident took place when the couple were riding a waterbike for a photoshoot. 

According to a newspaper article, the couple Lokeshwaran and Vibushnia planned to capture a speed boat ride which went wrong. Lokeswaran and Vibushnia got married on June 1, 2023. Their marriage took place in the presence of their friends and relatives. Their wedding was organized at a marriage hall in Poonmalle. 

According to reports, in a preliminary investigation, the concerned authorities found that the couple had planned a speed boat ride and decided to photoshoot the scene, however, the boat toppled and dragged them into the sea leading to their unfortunate and untimely demise.

The authorities recovered Lokeshwaran’s body on Friday and a day later they found Vibushnia’s body. The exact details leading to the tragedy is yet to be revealed as the investigation is still being carried on.  

The families of the couple have been informed about the tragic incident. As far as reports are concerned they are making necessary arrangements to bring the bodies back to their hometown in Chennai. The family reportedly urged for the Tamil Nadu government’s intervention in the matter. The family had communicated with the Tamil Nadu government and the central government. They have requested for support through the Indian embassy in Indonesia.
