Coimbatore: Collector Kranti Kumar Pati on Saturday urged farmers to come together to form farmer producer organisations, to get better prices for their produce.
After inaugurating a seminar organised by Agricultural Marketing and Agri Business, and the Pollachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in the presence of MP K Shanmugasundaram, the collector said there is a world-wide demand for millet-based products. “Farmers in Coimbatore can reap rich dividends if they take up millet cultivation. They should form farmer producer organisations to produce unique value-added products and sell them at profitable prices.”
“Innovations have helped to improve the shelf life of value-added products. They can now be stored for months,” he said.TNN
