Goods worth lakhs gutted in tent shop fire

Prayagraj: Goods worth lakhs of rupees was gutted when a major fire broke out at tent shop near Karbala crossing under the limits of Khuldabad police station early Saturday. However, no casualty was reported.
Chief fire officer R K Pandey told TOI: “Officials of the fire department received a call at around 4:12am about the fire inside a tent shop. Two fire tenders took around two hours to douse the flames.” Pandey said timely intervention of fire department managed to control the fire within tent shop or it could have spread to nearby shops.
The tent shop belonged to one Jagmohan, a resident of Lukerganj. He told police that he had closed his shop in the night and went to his house on Friday night.
The reason behind the fire was yet to be ascertained as initial report indicated towards short circuit. tnn
