Bokaro to administer polio drops to over 3.5L kids in July
Bokaro: The district administration is all set to roll out a three-day immunisation drive on the occasion of national pulse polio campaign from July 2 to administer polio drops to more than 3.5 lakh children across Bokaro.
At a recent meeting chaired by deputy development commissioner (DDC) Kirtishree, preparations for the upcoming campaign were reviewed. To raise awareness, banners, and posters will be displayed outside booths and miking activities will be organized throughout the area. Special attention will be given to urban areas.
The deputy development commissioner said, “Senior officials were assigned the responsibility of monitoring and coordinating the campaign in all blocks and urban areas. They were instructed to hold meetings with medical officers in-charge (MOIC) and other block-level officers before sending them to their respective booths”.
The commissioner emphasized the need for vaccinators to be present and start administering polio drops from 8 am. The DDC directed officials to ensure no child is left out, particularly in brick kilns and slum areas.
Civil surgeon Dr Abhay Bhushan Prasad said the district has 3.7lakh houses with an estimated 3.5lakh children under the age of five. “In all, 1,413 polio teams comprising 2,826 members and 283 supervisors will be deployed across 1,413 booths,” he said.
