LUCKNOW: Days after Lesa trans Gomti team, including JE, was attacked and injured during a checking drive in north sub-urban area of Lucknow, the discom team captured drone visuals of residents crawling on their knees to remove the cables from rooftops, which were been used for power theft to run ACs.
According to Lesa trans Gomti, total 27 households were caught in power theft between 4am and 7am in a drive that was held in Ahaladpur (seven households), Kamlabad Badauli (four), Krishna colony (one), Tarhiya (nine), Moihideenpur (one) and Tiwaripur (four) of Bakshi-ka-Talab circle.
Speaking to TOI, Lesa trans Gomti chief Anil Kumar Tiwari said: "After anti-power theft drive with the help of drones, there was reduction in 250KW load in the feeder on Saturday afternoon as compared to Friday."
"Everyone wants to get relief from heat with ACs, but none wants to pay bill for power used. All the accused consumers had bypassed the smart-meter for power pilferage," he said.
Both Lesa trans Gomti and Cis are continuously conducting raids across the city limits, to reduce the load on their power network and provide hassle free power supply.
"The power theft is just not restricted to sub-urban, rural or densely populated areas of the city with low family income, but to rich upper class as well who are sufficient enough to pay the bills, but still engage in power theft," said Tiwari.
The team also caught 39 consumers from Vedantpuram, Mahanagar, Shivpuri Colony, Gokul Vihar sector-6, Daliganj, Purania, Khurramnagar, Madiaon area on Saturday for power theft.
Discom not only snapped power supply of these households but also lodged FIR against them, with hefty penalty.
