PATNA: Two seized trucks were "stolen" from the premises of Ahiyapur Bazar Samiti in Muzaffarpur in the wee hours of Saturday. The trucks were seized by the police for carrying illegal sand.
SHO of Ahiyapur police station Arun Kumar, however, said the trucks were not stolen. "It seems either the drivers or the owners of the trucks took away the vehicles without permission," he added.
According to sources, a police team led by Chandrika Das, sub-inspector of Ahiyapur police station, had seized the two trucks near Sangam Ghat on June 7. Seeing the police personnel, the drivers of the two trucks had fled leaving the vehicles on the road. The trucks were later seized and kept on the premises of Ahiyapur Bazaar Samiti. The axles of the trucks were opened so that no one could move the vehicles.
The two trucks are owned by Subhash Rai and Arvind Rai. Both of them had bought the vehicles from their first owners. "The owners of the trucks have been identified and efforts are on to arrest them," the SHO added.
