14-member KPCS team to visit city

Surat: A 14-member Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) team from seven countries is likely to visit Diamond City soon. The team will gather details of the city’s diamond industry operations.
The team will include representatives from the industry both from abroad and within the country. While the exact details have not yet been declared by KPCS, but sources in the industry claim that the team is visiting to collect details about certification procedures adopted by the city’s diamond industries.
“Recently, the diamond industry representatives from the city visited diamond trading and manufacturing units abroad to learn about the KPCS process adopted by them. This process was done for uniformity and better understanding,” said an industry source.
“The team members will collect details on how Indian companies do the KPCS process. It is a part of the exchange of knowledge,” said a diamond jewellery manufacturer in the city.
