    India News Updates: The India Meteorological Department(IMD) tday said that the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS)"Biparjoy" located over the east-central Arabian Sea moved northwardswith a speed of 5 kmph and is likely to intensify into an extremelysevere cyclonic storm during the next 6 hours.

    According to IMD, the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS) "Biparjoy" isvery likely to move nearly northwards and reach near Pakistan andadjoining Saurashtra and Kutch coasts as a very severe cyclonic storm onJune 15. Taking to its official Twitter handle, IMD tweeted, "VSCS BIPARJOY laycentered at 2330IST of today, near lat 17.4N and long 67.3E, about 600km WSW of Mumbai, 530 km S-SW of Porbandar & 830 km S of Karachi. Tointensify further and likely to reach near Pakistan & adjoiningSaurashtra & Kutch coast around A/N of 15th June as VSCS."

    US confirms China has had a spy base in Cuba since at least 2019

    • China has been operating a spy base in Cuba since at least 2019, part of a global effort by Beijing to upgrade its intelligence-gathering capabilities, according to a Biden administration official. The official, who was not authorised to comment publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the US intelligence community has been aware of China's spying from Cuba and a larger effort to set up intelligence-gathering operations around the globe for some time.

    Indian sailors who were detained in Nigeria return home after nine months

    • Indian sailors who had beendetained in Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria for nine months finallyreturned home on Saturday. The 16 sailors, who had faced accusations of oil theft by Nigerianauthorities, arrived at Kochi Airport in Kerala after undergoing trialsand reaching a settlement.
    • They were warmly welcomed and greeted with garlands at the Kochiairport by their family and Indian Authorities. Notably, the 'MT Heroic Idun' crew who were in detention since August22, were released with a warning to carefully conduct theirmaritime-related activities. Sanu Jose, one of the sailors who returned to India thanked thegovernments as he reached Kerala after 'lots of uncertainty'.
