Phase one of Thane rly stn makeover by 2030: Vichare
Thane: Work on phase one of the ambitious Thane railway station makeover will begin in the first quarter of 2024 and could be completed by 2030, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Rajan Vichare said. Vichare, who has been following up on the project, told the media on Friday evening that railway officials had assured him that work on the first phase would start by next year. The railways is working on a major revamp of one of the busiest stations on the Central Railway costing over Rs2,100 crore to be executed in three phases. “Thane railway station holds immense historic value and this makeover would be the biggest that the station has witnessed ever since the first train arrived here. The project will be executed in phases, with the first one to be flagged off in early 2024 and the entire makeover to be completed in six years,” said Vichare. Elevated multi-tiered decks will be constructed over the existing platforms. —Manoj Badgeri
