HYDERABAD: Before killing aspiring TV actress Apsara, temple priest Ayyagari Venkat Surya Sai Krishna had made a
Google search - notably looking for "how to kill a human being," police said.
Police also suspect that he got the idea to dump Apsara's body in a manhole and pour rock salt in it so as to hasten the decomposition process after extensive online searches.
The accused priest was produced before a local magistrate late on Friday night, who sent him in judicial remand for 14 days.
"In March, Apsara asked the accused to marry her. She continued to pester him despite knowing that he was already married. Apsara had also blackmailed Krishna that she would lay the blame on him if he failed to agree for the marriage. The accused got vexed with her behaviour and decided to eliminate her," the police said in the remand report.
Krishna reportedly told the investigators that it was Apsara who took the initiative and had proposed to him on WhatsApp.
Police said Krishna developed an intimacy with Apsara but had never intended to marry her.
A week ago, he looked for information on Google. We suspect dumping Apsara’s body in the manhole was part of the online search. Recently, Apsara asked the accused to accompany her to a temple in Coimbatore.
Krishna then hatched a plan,” the police said. DCP (Shamshabad zone) K Narayana Reddy said the accused made Apsara believe they were heading to Coimbatore and took her towards Shamshabad in a car.
“After reaching Shamshabad at 10 pm, Krishna told Apsara that their bus would leave at 11 pm. At 12 am on June 4, he told Apsara it would be better not to go to Coimbatore since she was unwell. She slept in the car.
Krishna smashed her head with a stone and killed her,” DCP said. Krishna’s wife on Saturday defended his good nature, saying, “I don’t believe my husband had killed her. It might have happened accidentally. She might have pressured him for a marriage and out of anger he might have accidentally hit her.
He goes out of his way to help people.” After post mortem, Apsara’s body was handed over to her family. “If the same thing is done to a girl in their (accused’s) house, will they accept? How can he (Krishna) kill my daughter so cruelly?” Apsara’s father Srikar asked.
