Starfield will have a lot for you to explore, as the game features multiple worlds, as confirmed again and again by Bethesda's Todd Howard. He also mentioned that the game will have a new animation system, and players can play it in third-person and first-person modes.
Each planet in Starfield will have its own set of features and resources. Players can either explore and survey the ecosystem of a planet they have landed on, or they can even collect them to use for various purposes.
As showcased in trailers, New Atlantis will be one of the big human settlements in Starfield. However, that's not all, as Bethesda also showcased other locations outside the United Colonies such as the Freestar Collective Space, which includes Akila City, Neon, and more.
The team at Bethesda also gave more information about the player creation system, which is also used to create the game's NPCs. Alongside the looks, players can also choose from a variety of backgrounds, which determines your starting skills. Plus, you can also choose from a variety of traits too.
In Starfield, players earn a skill point every time they level up. They can use these points to either gain a new skill or upgrade an existing one. The skills in the game are categorized into Physical, Social, Combat, Science and Tech.
In Starfield, players will meet several characters that can join them in their adventures. These space companions will have their own set of skills that aid you during missions or in outposts. Plus, they also come with their own questlines.
Ship combat is not all about piloting and shooting weapons. Instead, it features a complex system, where players will have to allocate power to various systems based on the situation at-hand.
Players can either destroy ships and their crews using ship combat or they can dock their ships on to ones controlled by their enemies to clean house from the outside. You can also dock with ships for much-more friendlier reasons, as you can explore and meet various new groups of people during your journey.
Starfield's planets are varied in terms of both visuals and functionality. Each location will also have interesting points of interest for players to interact with. This includes outposts, caves, labs, fauna, flora, and more, thus allowing none of these planets to feel boring.
Once players land on a planet, they can also set up a base camp or outposts, which can help them farm resources. These base camps offer a ton of customization options, when it comes to functionality, and players can even task companions to work in these locations.
Just like past Bethesda titles, Starfield is no different when it comes to weapon customization. The game has a plethora of weapon options including melees, and each weapon can be further customized using mods.
At the conclusion of the event, the event showcased an intriguing gameplay element, which seems to suggest that players might gain supernatural powers or even Jedi-like Force powers that can be used in combat.
