PVTG members seek guv’s help
Palamu: Women belonging to the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) population in Nawadeeh village under Palamu’s Ramgarh block on Friday appealed to governor CP Radhakrishnan to set up a residential school for girls and ensure timely delivery of rice, sugar and salt to their families.
Radhakrishnan was interacting with the group in Palamu on the concluding day of his two-day Latehar and Palamu visit.
During the interaction, the men demanded a community library, a 10 +2 college and a new revenue circle office. The PVTG community members also flagged before Radhakrishnan their problems to obtain caste and residential certificates as they dwell in forests.
“The access to many government schemes get blocked due to absence of these certificates,” they said. Assuring the people to resolve their issues, Radhakrishnan asked Palamu DC Anjanyeulu Dodde to set up a community library on the roof of the Nawadeeh panchayat building. “I will take up the matter with the state government for the opening of a revenue circle office here,” he said.
Speaking to TOI in Nawadeeh, Radhakrishnan said the displacement commission is an important office in Jharkhand which will oversee the rehabilitation of the displaced.
Meanwhile, residents of Lahlahe area under Palamu’s Sadar block affected by the NH-75 expansion and power grid projects pleaded for adequate compensation .
The people displaced by the power grid project are awaiting compensation for three years, and those who will be hit by the NH-75 project are offered only Rs 7,100 per decimal as against the market price of Rs 3 lakh per decimal.
The governor said he would discuss the power grid compensation issue with the DC. “We will take up the NH-75 project issue with NHAI officials,” he said.
