Part of rd caves in, IIT-B to probe

Thane: A small stretch of road in Panchpakhadi area of the city sunk after a loaded truck passed over the stretch, Wednesday afternoon, officials informed. TMC chief Abhijit Bangar ordered a probe by IIT Bombay experts. The incident was reported when a brick-laden truck was passing the Sant Dnyaneshwar road in Uthalsar ward, and a part of the road started caving in. The incident occurred in close vicinity of Thane municipal headquarters. Bangar ordered a probe and said the road was constructed three years ago using the Ultra Thin White Topping (UTWT) technology. “The road is still under the defect liability and will be reconstructed by the contractor at his own cost. A team from Bombay IIT will also investigate the cause of the incident,” said Bangar. TNN
