PUNE: A 57-year-old typist working at a lawyer's office in the city died on Tuesday night after an unknown vehicle hit his scooter on the Paud Phata overbridge.
The victim, Avinash Nikumbh, who hailed from Nashik and was currently residing at Warje, was rushed to a private hospital on Paud Road. Later, he was shifted to the Sassoon general hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Wednesday.
The accident happened when Nikumbh was going to his brother's house at the left Bhusari colony for dinner, a Kothrud police officer said. Nikumbh had shifted to Pune from Nashik just two months ago. "He was working as a typist at a lawyer's office near the Pune Railway station," the police officer said. He said that some unknown vehicle had hit Nikumbh's scooter when he was on the Paud Phata flyover. "We are checking the CCTV footage from nearby cameras to identify the vehicle," the officer added.
