Baran city Cong prez injured in firing dies, two arrested
Kota: Baran city Congress president, who was critically injured in a firing on Wednesday, died during treatment at a hospital in Kota late Thursday night.
Meanwhile police arrested two accused of the fatal attack on Thursday evening and produced them before court on Friday that granted the police 3 day remand for interrogation.
Two persons, identified as Rajendra Meena alias Raju Mundla of Mudla Bisoti village and Ramkanwar Meena of Harnawda area of Baran district were arrested in connection with fatal firing over Baran Congress city president Gaurav Sharma (43) two days ago on Wednesday, said Baran S.P. Raj Kumar Choudhary.
In the report by Gaurav Sharma’s kin, names of two accused were mentioned. The two accused had a dispute with Sharma over 5 bighas of land, he added.
The accused admitted to have committed the crime and that they had purchased the pistol from an arm smuggler in 2014 that they had used to fire at Sharma after calling him to Talawara road on Wednesday, the S.P. said.
Police handed over Sharma's body to his family members after the postmortem was conducted, said Baran city Station House Officer Rajesh Khatana.
