GURGAON: The city’s temperature crossed 40 degrees Celsius for the first time this month. On Friday, it was 40.5 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature on Friday was 27.9 degrees Celsius. A fresh western disturbance is likely to hit the region by June 11 night, according to to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The city’s maximum temperature will be above 40 degrees till June 13.
No heatwave alert, however, has been issued. “A fresh western disturbance is likely to hit the region from June 11 night and isolated showers and thunderstorms may occur in Haryana,” said an IMD official.
The city’s air quality index (AQI) remained ‘moderate’ at 170 on Friday.
According to the SAFAR, “The air quality is likely to be in ‘moderate’ category for the next three days.”
Meanwhile in Delhi, the maximum temperature at the capital’s base station, Safdarjung, was recorded at 40.5 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal, against 39.9 degrees a day earlier.
