PhD student ends life, blames herself for father's death

LUCKNOW: A 28-year-old PhD student of Baba Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) allegedlly committed suicide by hanging herself in her rented house in SGPGI area on Friday. During the investigation, the police found a suicide note written in her diary in the room.
In the suicide note, deceased Sneha Yadav mentioned about being upset after her father's death. She had blamed herself for his death.
Assistant commissioner of police, Cantonment, Abhinav Yadav said that Sneha was a native of Prayagraj and was pursuing PhD in biology from BBAU. She lived with Garima, her junior from the university, on rent in Uphaar Eldeco Udyan.
"Garima went to the university's laboratory on Friday morning and when she returned in the evening, the door of the room was closed. When there was no response to knocking even after several attempts, she contacted the landlord. The owner then informed the police. When the police entered the room after breaking the door, Sneha's body was found hanging," said ACP.
A diary was found on the table and when police opened the diary they found the note which said, "(in English) I am really very fed up of my life and of getting everything, (then in hindi) ismain kisi ki bhi koi galti nahi hai jo bhi hai meri hai (Nobody is responsible for my act, I am solely responsible), further in English again, I will miss u mom".
The ACP said that in the preliminary investigation, the police came to know that Sneha's father Shanta Yadav had died of a heart attack in January this year.
"A great bond of love existed between them and Sneha was shocked by the sudden death of her father and went into depression," a relative told police.
SHO SGPGI, RR Singh said the family members have been informed.
The body has been kept in the mortuary of the postmortem house. Further action will be taken after the arrival of the family members.
