MC official booked for manhandling VB staff

Ludhiana: Another FIR has been lodged against MC’s sanitary inspector Jatinder Vij, who was arrested on Thursday while taking Rs 4,000 as bribe from a ragpicker, for manhandling officials of the Vigilance Bureau (Ludhiana range) at the time of his arrest. Vij was posted at MC’s zone-D office. He was arrested on the complaint of Mahi Ram, a resident of Tower Colony, near Grain Market.
In his complaint to the police, DSP (vigilance) Shiv Chand said when the VB sleuths were carrying out the arrest, the accused not only misbehaved with them but also manhandled them.
ASI Sita Ram, IO from Model Town police station, said a case under relevant sections of the IPC has been lodged. tnn
