Tutor held for rape of minor student in Patna

PATNA: Police on Friday arrested a teacher of a coaching centre in the city on charges of raping one of his minor students and making objectionable videos to blackmail her. The arrested teacher has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The 22-year-old accused, who teaches chemistry, allegedly increased acquaintance with the 17-year-old girl and took her to a rented accommodation on the pretext of giving notes and raped her. He then started blackmailing the girl by threatening to circulate the video clip of his shameful act. TOI is not revealing the name of the accused to protect the identity of the rape survivor.
According to the FIR lodged by the survivor at a police station here, the accused raped her several times thereafter. She could not gather courage to complain to her parents fearing that the accused might circulate the video clips. However, the girl finally broke her silence.
SHO of the police station concerned said several objectionable photos of the rape survivor were found in the cellphone of the accused.
