Mysuru: Mandya-based PES College has secured National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rank in the band of 151-200 for 2023 among 2,600 engineering institutions, said college principal RM Mahalingegowda on Friday. The college stands first among government/aided engineering colleges of
Karnataka in NIRF Innovation ranking, he added.
According to him, the college is placed in the 11-50 band in innovation in the country.
Speaking to reporters, he said that the college has maintained its consistency from the past five years. It secured 137th rank in NIRF ranking in 2022, 139th rank in 2021, 147th in 2020 and 169th rank in 2019.
He said NIRF ranking is a methodology adopted by the Union ministry of human resources to rank institutions of higher education in India.
In the fourth edition of NIRF innovation ranking, the college has also secured 11-50 band rank in
the national level. Only three colleges in Karnataka were ranked in this band, including Indian Institute of Science of Bangalore, he said.
Based on the parameters of teaching, learning, resources, research and professional practices, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, perception, NIRK ranking has been given to the college, said Mahalingegowda.
He said out of 4,500 engineering colleges, only 2,600 participated in the ranking process for the year throughout the country.
Good track record in placement: DeanDean (academic) R Girish said that the college has maintained a good track record in placement opportunities. Out of 570 students who obtained engineering degrees from eight different disciplines of the colleges in the previous year, nearly 80 per cent of the students have got jobs in various state owned, private and multinational companies, he said. The college is also introducing new courses like data science from this year, he added.
