Ahmedabad: Olympian swimmer Maana Patel will lead the Gujarat challenge for the 76th senior national aquatic championships 2023 to be held in Hyderabad from July 2-5. Six swimmers from Ahmedabad dominate the squad of 12 finalized by the selection committee based on the performances at the 64th Gujarat state aquatic championships 2023.
In the women’s team, Maana is joined by Venika Parikh and Diya Patel of Ahmedabad. Surat’s Kalyani Saxena and Vadodara’s Anushya Kaithwas complete the five-member line-up. Devansh Parmar, Aryan Panchal and Hemraj Patel of Ahmedabad are part of the men’s team as are Anshul Kothari, Aniket Patel and Hemraj Patel of Surat. Vadodara’s Om Kadam too is part of the team.
GCI ‘B’ triumph: Gujarat Cricket Institute (GCI) ‘B’ defeated
Gandhinagar Sport Academy (GSA) by eight wickets in their match at the SPCT U-14 Cricket Tournament on Thursday. Batting first, GSA batting collapsed and they were all out for 58 in 32.1 overs. Only Sneh Patel (14) and Aarav Chaudhary (11) could reach double figures. For GCI, Tanuj Parmar took three for 8, while Mahin Shukla claimed two wickets for six. GCI ‘B’ scored 60 for two in 13 overs. Shaurya Kothari and Tanuj Parmar were unbeaten at 33 and 12 respectively. Shashwat Vaghela took two for 21. Tanuj was named man of the match.
