7 held with 2kg opium, 626g heroin
Ludhiana: Khanna police arrested seven persons in three separate cases with 626g heroin and 2 kg opium.
Khanna SSP Amneet Kondal said a police team led by Payal DSP Harsimrat Singh arrested accused Jagbir Singh Jagga of Umarwal Billa village, Jalandhar, and Jaswinder Singh Jassa of Sidhwan Bet, Ludhiana, when they were traveling in a car on the national highway at Doraha and seized 600g of heroin and Rs 40,000 drug money from them.
The police said the accused were allegedly bringing the consignment from Ludhiana area to supply the same in various regions. They said Jasbir had earlier been booked in a case under the Mining Act at Sidhwan Bet police station on December 28, 2015, and two cases of kidnapping at Mehtpur police station.
According to police records, Jaswinder too had been booked in a case under the Mining Act at Sidhwan Bet police station on September 6, 2022, and a drug smuggling case at Nakodar police station.
In another case, police arrested four accused — Satnam Singh Bauhda, Lovepreet Singh Lovely, Charanpreet Singh Cheena and Satwinder Singh Satta (all of Rampur village) — with 26g heroin. Cops said Satnam had three cases, a drug peddling and attempt to murder, lodged against him. The police said Satnam had bought the car from Delhi with drug money about two days ago. They had got many complaints from villagers regarding Satnam for allegedly destroying the lives of youth in the area by selling them drugs, cops added.
In the third case, a police party arrested Ram Balak of Ghudani Kalan, who hails from East Champaran district of Bihar, at a check post in Payal area with 2kg opium. The police said that it is suspected that the accused was just delivering the consignment while someone else is heading the operation. The person’s identity is being ascertained, they added.
