Fatal mishap: Teen took car on test drive

Thane: The 18-year-old son of a BMC staffer, who allegedly mowed down a jogger late on Wednesday near Upvan had taken the family car for a test drive unescorted though he only has a learner’s licence. The boy, who lives in Vasant Vihar, was allegedly speeding along Pokhran 2, lost control of his car and crashed into Varun Sharma (40), a civil engineer who was jogging along the stretch. “Sharma suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead,” said sub-inspector Lahu Rathod of Chitalsar Manpada police station.
