Kanpur: Quality kits being distributed at the Anganwadi centres seems to have a positive effect on children and their parents, as is visible from the way number of enrollments has increased, said Governor Anandiben Patel, Chancellor of state universities while distributing the kit to 69 centres of the district in the Anganwadi participation programme held at Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University on Thursday.
The Governor further said that cultural programmes should also be organised at the Anganwadi. “Children performing the best should also be rewarded,” she said.
On the occasion, the Governor appreciated the efforts of the university in empowering the Anganwadis.
She said, “It is everyone’s responsibility to support the last person of the society. We need to work with spirit of social service,” she said.
She talked about the ‘Jal Bharo’ campaign and water harvesting and how important it is to make available potable water.

Vinay Kumar Pathak said under the guidance of the Chancellor, the university is playing an important role in the better interest of the society. “The university has provided kits to all the Anganwadi centres of Kanpur city,” he said and added, “With the inspiration of the Chancellor’s continuous effort, a better environment for education is also being created in the universities.”
Anita Awasthi, professor of the social work department of the university, presented the survey report of the Anganwadi to the Governor.
Awasthi informed that the data was collected from 200 Anganwadi workers. “It was concluded that after providing the kits, there has been an increase of 23 percent in the enrollment of children in the Anganwadi centres and at some centres it escalated to 40 to 57 per cent,” she noted.
