Kanpur: Additional session judge XIVth Kanpur Nagar Akhileshwar Prasad Mishra on Thursday convicted four persons for attempt to kill a man called Chandrapal and punished them with 10 years rigorous imprisonment, along with fine of Rs 8,000 on each.
The persons sentenced to RI were identified as Arvind, Sarvesh Kumar, Siyaram Kashyap and
Virendra Kumar all residents of village Kathara under Bidhanoo police circle.
According to additional district government counsel Shiv Bhagwan Goswami, the complainant was the victim Chandrapal’s wife. She had claimed that on March 15, 2006, along with her husband Chandrapal she visited Kathara village to meet relatives on the occasion of
Holi and they were returning to the city at 7.30pm, when Siyaram and his three sons accosted her husband and thrashed him. Siyaram opened fire with a country made pistol at Chandrapal with an intention to kill him. Chandrapal sustained gun shot injury on near his left ear and fell on the ground. The accused presumed Chandrapal was dead and ran away from the spot.
Bidhanu police first sent Chandrapal to CHC for medical examination and from there he was referred to UHM.
The police did not register FIR . The complainant preferred a complaint case before the court and ACMM first ordered police to register a case and investigate the matter, said the ADGC. The prosecution produced as many as seven witness including complainant Somwati, he added.
